Christ is to us compassionate, kind, humble, meek, patient.
He bears with us, and though he has a complaint against our sin that harms us and others… he forgives us from his cross before we even ask for it.
Surrounding all of his beauties is his love. Covenant love that is grounded in oath with the Father, so it cannot abandon us. For the promise was made not between us and God, but between Father and Son, witnessed and sealed by the Spirit.
We are a love-gift from Father to him.
This holds us together in perfect harmony with him, and floods our minds with his peace. His word is ever speaking to us these beauties of his.
We need not crawl like beggars for it. We simply “let” the word of Christ dwell in us richly. We get to bathe in his beauties toward us.
We can bathe in his riches as entitled children. For our Father has made us entitled to unlimited joy in the Son. Joy without prerequisite. Joy without end.
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. -Colossians 3:12-16
