I can only know Christ when all else is stripped from my soul, and I bow in the dust… desperate. Lost without him. Weak, helpless, dependent.
If “let go and let God” means throwing myself into Jesus’ arms… running to him and abandoning the idolatrous need for validation and affirmation from other things and other people… then yes… I will let go and let God.
If “let go and let God” means trusting that the One who catches me is worth the loss of everything else… then yes… I will let go and let God.
Christ is acceptable and ‘intelligible’ only to publicans and sinners who by Jesus’ word of truth have been bowed down into the dust before the living God, who acknowledge that they are completely lost, and who know of nothing else to do but to throw themselves into the open arms of Jesus.” -O.
